This event will take place on the traditional and unceded territories
of the Tsleil-Waututh (səl̓ilwətaɁɬ), the Musqueam (xʷməθkʷəy̓əm), and
the Squamish (Skwxwú7mesh) Coast Salish Nations.

March 5, 2020 marks the 7th anniversary of the passing of Hugo Chavez,
the leader of the Bolivarian revolution and President of Venezuela
until he passed in 2013. His legacy continues to live on in the
struggle of the people of Venezuela in defense of their independence
and sovereignty.

Every day, the people of Venezuela stand up to a brutal U.S.-led
economic blockade, which has made access to food, medicines, and basic
goods increasingly difficult. However, this campaign by the U.S. to
strangle the economy of Venezuela and bring about the overthrow the
democratically elected President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, is
failing. The United States government and their allies, including
Canada have not been able to break the determination of the people of
Venezuela to defend the Bolivarian revolutionary process which Hugo
Chavez began over 20 years ago.

As people living in the U.S. and Canada, we have the responsibility to
stand with the people of Venezuela against U.S. and Canada sanctions,
war and threats against Venezuela.

El 5 de marzo de 2020 se cumple el séptimo aniversario del siembra de
Hugo Chávez, el presidente de Venezuela de 1999 a 2013 y el líder de
la revolución bolivariana. Su legado continúa viviendo en la lucha del
pueblo de Venezuela en defensa de su independencia y soberanía.

Todos los días, el pueblo de Venezuela se enfrenta a un brutal bloqueo
económico liderado por Estados Unidos, que ha hecho que el acceso a
alimentos, medicamentos y productos básicos sea cada vez más difícil.
Sin embargo, esta campaña de estrangular la economía de Venezuela y
provocar el derrocamiento del presidente democráticamente elegido de
Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, está fallando. El gobierno de los Estados
Unidos y sus aliados, incluido Canadá, no han podido romper la
determinación del pueblo de Venezuela de defender el proceso
revolucionario bolivariano que Hugo Chávez comenzó hace más de 20
años.

Como personas que viven en los EE. UU. Y Canadá, tenemos la
responsabilidad de apoyar al pueblo de Venezuela contra las sanciones,
la guerra y las amenazas contra Venezuela.
