Everyday the U.S. blockade on Cuba affects the life of the Cuban people
creating shortages in accessing food, fuel, medicine, construction
materials and other necessities. In addition to tightening the brutal
blockade on Cuba, the Trump administration has unleashed a slanderous
campaign and attack against Cuba’s internationalist humanitarian medical
missions. With this campaign the U.S. government is attempting to pressure
other Latin American and Caribbean countries to expel Cuban doctors by
spreading lies about Cuba's world-renowned healthcare system.

Despite facing a brutal U.S. blockade for over 60 years, Cuban humanitarian
medical missions have sent 400,000 doctors to 164 countries. Cuban doctors
aided the people of Haiti after the 2010 earthquake, they fought tirelessly
against the Ebola virus in West Africa. Cuban medical missions provide
access to healthcare to some of the poorest and most remote areas of the
world. Their example stands in stark contrast to the wars, occupations,
soldiers and military bases that the United States maintains around the
world.

The Cuban government issued a powerful response: “Cuba’s response is firm:
we will continue saving lives and offering healthcare and well being
throughout the world to the extent of our possibilities, wherever we might
be required to do so.”

As friends of Cuba around the world we stand in solidarity with the Cuban
medical missions and the Cuban people as they continue to face threats,
attacks, slanders and sanctions from the U.S. government.

Join Friends of Cuba Against the U.S. Blockade on February 17 for our
monthly picket action as we stand up against the criminal U.S. blockade on
Cuba and in defence of Cuba’s sovereignty and self-determination!

This event will be taking place on the traditional and unceded territories
of the Tsleil-Waututh (səl̓ilwətaɁɬ), the Musqueam (xʷməθkʷəy̓əm), and the
Squamish (Skwxwú7mesh) Coast Salish Nations.

Todos los días, el bloqueo de EE. UU. a Cuba afecta la vida del pueblo
cubano creando escasez en el acceso a alimentos, combustible, medicamentos,
materiales de construcción y otras necesidades. Además de endurecer el
brutal bloqueo a Cuba, la administración Trump ha desatado una campaña
calumniosa y un ataque contra las misiones médicas humanitarias
internacionalistas de Cuba. Con esta campaña, el gobierno de EE. UU.
intenta presionar a otros países de América Latina y el Caribe para que
expulsen a los médicos cubanos difundiendo mentiras sobre el sistema de
salud de renombre mundial de Cuba.

A pesar de enfrentar un brutal bloqueo estadounidense durante más de 60
años, las misiones médicas humanitarias cubanas han enviado 400,000 médicos
a 164 países. Los médicos cubanos ayudaron al pueblo de Haití después del
terremoto de 2010, lucharon incansablemente contra el virus del Ébola en
África occidental. Las misiones médicas cubanas brindan acceso a la
atención médica a algunas de las zonas más pobres y remotas del mundo. Su
ejemplo contrasta con las guerras, ocupaciones, soldados y bases militares
que Estados Unidos mantiene en el mundo.

El gobierno cubano emitió una poderosa respuesta: "La respuesta de Cuba es

solicite.” Como amigos de Cuba, nos solidarizamos con las misiones médicas
cubanas y el pueblo cubano mientras continúan enfrentando amenazas,
ataques, calumnias y sanciones del gobierno de los Estados Unidos.

¡Únase a Amigos de Cuba contra el bloqueo de los Estados Unidos el 17 de
febrero para nuestra acción de piquete mensual mientras nos enfrentamos al
bloqueo criminal de los Estados Unidos contra Cuba y en defensa de la
soberanía y la autodeterminación de Cuba!
