WANT TO TRAVEL TO CUBA?REPORT BACK FROM THE 2018 CALIXTO GARCIA BRIGADE!
* A Free Community Event! *SATURDAY September 28, 20197pm Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House800 E. Broadway (Vancouver, Canada)This event will take place on the traditional and unceded territories of the Tsleil-Waututh (səl̓ilwətaɁɬ), the Musqueam (xʷməθkʷəy̓əm), and the Squamish (Skwxwú7mesh) Coast Salish Nations.
More than one million people travel from Canada to Cuba every year, enjoying Cuba’s beautiful beaches and rich culture. The Calixto Garcia Brigade is a unique way to visit Cuba and to be immersed in Cuban history, culture, and vibrant daily life! The exciting two-week program visits museums and historical sites, such as where the Granma yacht and young Cuban revolutionaries landed in 1956. Brigadistas will connect with the friendly and beautiful people of Cuba, including meetings with combatants who were part of the Cuban revolution, students building the future of Cuba, and campesinos developing Cuba’s cooperative farms!
On Saturday September 28 join Tamara and Mike, two participants in the 2018 Calixto Garcia Brigade, who will be sharing photos and anecdotes from their brigade experience. If you’ve ever wanted to travel to Cuba, this is a chance to learn more about this exciting way to go there!
Evening will feature:~ Poetry~ Multimedia~ Raffle and prizes~ and Salsa lesson!
