This event will take place on the traditional and unceded territories of
the Tsleil-Waututh (səl̓ilwətaɁɬ), the Musqueam (xʷməθkʷəy̓əm), and the
Squamish (Skwxwú7mesh) Coast Salish Nations.

On September 11, 2019 U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced the
escalation of war against Venezuela. Together with 10 other right-wing
Latin American governments, the U.S. invoked the Inter-American Treaty of
Reciprocal Assistance (TIAR). The TIAR is a dangerous cold-war era mutual
defense treaty which enables further U.S.-led intervention against the
people of Venezuela.

The U.S. and their allies, including the government of Canada, have been
relentless in their campaign to overthrow the democratically elected
government of Venezuela and President Nicolas Maduro. This maneuver by the
United Stated comes amidst constant war mongering and threats against
Venezuela, and the imposition of a cruel and inhuman blockade that has cost
the economy of Venezuela more than $130 billion between 2015-2018 alone.

Recently, the government of Venezuela began the #NoMoreTrump campaign and a
massive effort to collect signatures on a petition demanding an end to the
Trump administrations blockade and threats of military intervention. In the
coming weeks, the government of Venezuela’s delegation to the 74th General
Assembly of the United Nations will deliver an outstanding 13.2 million
signatures against U.S. intervention in Venezuela collected in less than 2
months.

As people living in the United States and Canada it is our responsibility
to echo the demands of the millions of people in Venezuela who signed the
petition, and who organize and mobilize every day in Venezuela in defense
of their sovereignty and self-determination.

We will also be demanding that all charges be dropped against members of
the Embassy Protection Collective who were arrested by the U.S. government
in their heroic defense of Venezuela’s sovereignty. For 37 days the Embassy
Protection Collective protected the Venezuelan Embassy in Washington, DC
from take over by supporters of the U.S.-backed puppet so-called “interim
President” of Venezuela Juan Guaido. Read more about this important

El 11 de septiembre de 2019, el Secretario de Estado de los EE.UU., Mike
Pompeo, anunció la escalada de la guerra contra Venezuela. Junto con otros
10 gobiernos latinoamericanos de derecha, Estados Unidos invocó el Tratado
Interamericano de Asistencia Recíproca (TIAR). El TIAR es un peligroso
tratado de defensa mutua de la era de la guerra fría que permite una mayor
intervención dirigida por los Estados Unidos contra el pueblo de Venezuela.

Estados Unidos y sus aliados, incluido el gobierno de Canadá, han sido
implacables en su campaña para derrocar al gobierno democráticamente
elegido de Venezuela y al presidente Nicolás Maduro. Esta maniobra de los
Estados Unidos se produce en medio de constantes campañas de guerra y
amenazas contra Venezuela, y la imposición de un bloqueo cruel e inhumano
que le ha costado a la economía de Venezuela más de $ 130 mil millones
entre 2015-2018 solo.

Recientemente, el gobierno de Venezuela comenzó la campaña #NoMoreTrump y
un esfuerzo masivo para recolectar firmas en una petición que exige el fin
del bloqueo y las amenazas de intervención militar del gobierno de Trump.
En las próximas semanas, la delegación del gobierno de Venezuela en la 74a
Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas entregará 13,2 millones de firmas
pendientes contra la intervención estadounidense en Venezuela recolectadas
en menos de 2 meses.

Como personas que viven en los Estados Unidos y Canadá, es nuestra
responsabilidad hacer eco de las demandas de los millones de personas en
Venezuela que firmaron la petición, y que se organizan y movilizan todos
los días en Venezuela en defensa de su soberanía y autodeterminación.

También exigiremos que se retiren todos los cargos contra miembros del
Colectivo de Protección de la Embajada que fueron arrestados por el
gobierno de los Estados Unidos en su heroica defensa de la soberanía de
Venezuela. Durante 37 días, el Colectivo de Protección de la Embajada
protegió a la Embajada de Venezuela en Washington, DC, de la toma de
control de los partidarios del títere respaldado por los Estados Unidos
llamado "Presidente interino" de Venezuela, Juan Guaidó. Lea más sobre esta
