The new era of war and occupation, which began with the U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan in 2001, has carved a path of death and destruction throughout the Middle East and North Africa. Every day there are more reasons to stand together as peace-loving people against the deadly U.S. war machine. From brutal sanctions imposed on the people of Iran and Venezuela, to the continued bombardment of Yemen by a Saudi-led coalition armed with U.S., Canadian, and European weaponry. 
Just this week, the U.S.-backed a military coup d’état against President Evo Morales in Bolivia, escalating their attacks against people in Latin America. Meanwhile, in Chile, people are continuing to protest neo-liberalism and austerity despite facing horrific police and military brutality unleashed upon them by the U.S.-allied President Piñera. Thousands of miles away, Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip have faced a brutal bombardment by the Israeli military that has killed 26 people and injured 80 people in only 48 hours. 
As people living in Canada, we have the responsibility to demand an end to the government of Canada’s complicity in U.S.-led war drive. We must continue to educate, organize and mobilize against imperialist wars and occupations. Join MAWO in the streets of Vancouver Friday, November 15!

There will be poetry and music from around the world, in many different languages and special features by ESTEA ELEMENTS, community based Hip-Hop artist and organizer extraordinaire and MAYRA CLIMACO, a Nicaraguan poet and long-time social justice activist.

Come join Mobilization Against War and Occupation for an organizing meeting – to discuss past MAWO events and actions and plan for upcoming events. The meeting will begin with 45 minutes of news clips and multimedia; an overview of US-led wars, occupations and threats, as well as people’s resistance to imperialist attacks and intervention. The videos will especially focus on the struggle of the people of Yemen against four years of U.S.-backed Saudi war, ongoing U.S. intervention in Iraq and Syria, and the people of Venezuela’s resistance to U.S. interventions against their sovereignty and self-determination.
