This event will take place on the traditional and unceded territories of the Tsleil-Waututh (səl̓ilwətaɁɬ), the Musqueam (xʷməθkʷəy̓əm), and the Squamish (Skwxwú7mesh) Coast Salish Nations.

Over the last few weeks the United States government has re-escalated their dangerous war mongering against Iran. Since the U.S. unilaterally abandoned the 2015 Iran Nuclear Deal, the people of Iran have faced tightening sanctions, sabotage, and increased provocation by the United States. The U.S. government recently sent new aircraft carriers and B-52 bombers towards the Persian Gulf and has also reportedly discussed a plan to deploy 120,000 troops to the Middle East.

Meanwhile, the relentless and deliberate bombing of civilian targets by the Saudi Arabia-led coalition continues in Yemen. On May 16, U.S.-backed Saudi Arabian planes bombed a residential area, killing 8 people and wounding 58. Yemen has been bombed and blockaded into being the “worlds worst humanitarian crisis” according to the United Nations, yet the government of the United States and their allies, including Canada, continue to arm Saudi Arabia to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars. 

Through devastating wars, occupation and sanctions, the new era of war and occupation, which began in 2001 with the US/Canada/NATO invasion of Afghanistan, continues to carve a bloody path through the Middle East and North Africa, and has now also set its sights on Venezuela. Join Mobilization Against War and Occupation (MAWO) for our monthly rally as we stand with people around the world from Venezuela to Syria, and Palestine to North Korea and say: Enough is enough! This madness must be stopped!
