This event will be taking place on the traditional and unceded territories of the Tsleil-Waututh (səl̓ilwətaɁɬ), the Musqueam (xʷməθkʷəy̓əm), and the Squamish (Skwxwú7mesh) Coast Salish Nations.
PROGRAM FEATURING:>> Live Music with the phenomenal BOUNA VEDERE & THE BAND - South African born singer and a performer, now living in Vancouver BC. She is a former member of the two times Grammy Award winners Soweto Gospel Choir from South Africa. Her performances are always powerful and inspiring, don't miss out!>> LUCY ORTIZ - Poet, activist and coordinator of the Proyecto Cultural Sur - Vancouver >> MACARENA CATALDO HERNÁNDEZ - Chilean poet and activist of Proyecto Cultural Sur - Vancouver >> MAYRA CLIMACO - Nicaraguan poet, activist for social justice and former Sandinista fighter >> ALEJANDRO MUJICA-OLEA - Chilean poet and activist of Proyecto Cultural Sur - Vancouver>> TEAM TRIVIA CHALLENGE about women’s history and struggles – everyone wins a prize!
For International Women’s Day 2019 we will be gathering to “Celebrate Revolutionary Women of Cuba, Venezuela & the World.” Let’s come together and celebrate the gains of women around the world in their struggles for justice and equality! 
Since the triumph of the Cuban Revolution in 1959, the women of Cuba have been making tremendous gains in the struggle for women’s rights and equality, organizing a “Revolution within the Revolution” that continues to move forward today. Over the last 20 years of the Bolivarian Revolution, women in Venezuela have also made great advances in all sectors of society from healthcare and education to politics.
Join Vancouver Communities in Solidarity with Cuba (VCSC) for a free cultural event featuring dynamic live music, beautiful poetry, speakers, trivia games and prizes!

Para el Día Internacional de la Mujer 2019, nos reuniremos para "Celebrar a las Mujeres Revolucionarias de Cuba, Venezuela y el Mundo". ¡Unámonos y celebremos los logros de las mujeres de todo el mundo en sus luchas por la justicia y la igualdad!
Desde el triunfo de la Revolución cubana en 1959, las mujeres de Cuba han logrado enormes logros en la lucha por los derechos y la igualdad de las mujeres, organizando una "Revolución dentro de la Revolución" que continúa avanzando hoy. En los últimos 20 años de la Revolución Bolivariana, las mujeres en Venezuela también han logrado grandes avances en todos los sectores de la sociedad, desde la atención médica y la educación hasta la política.
¡Únase a las Comunidades de Vancouver en Solidaridad con Cuba (VCSC) para un evento cultural gratuito con música en vivo, poesía hermosa, oradores, trivia y premios!
