This event will take place on the traditional and unceded territories of
the Tsleil-Waututh (səl̓ilwətaɁɬ), the Musqueam (xʷməθkʷəy̓əm), and the
Squamish (Skwxwú7mesh) Coast Salish Nations.



On April 13, 2002 mass mobilization by the people of Venezuela defeated a
U.S.-backed coup against President Chavez, less than 48 hours after the
coup began. 17 years later the people of Venezuela continue to demonstrate
to the United States and their allies that they will defend their
democracy, sovereignty, self-determination and Bolivarian revolutionary
process. Nearly three months ago the U.S. government and their allies,
including the government of Canada, attempted another coup by trying to
impose their self-declared “President” Juan Guaido.



This vicious U.S.-backed coup against the democratically elected President
of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, was defeated despite escalating sanctions,
vicious sabotage on the electrical grid and continued threats of U.S.
military intervention. Since then, the U.S., Canada and the EU have
continued their ruthless campaign to strangle Venezuela’s economy. On April
15, 2019 the government of Canada also announced further unjustified
sanctions against Venezuela.



Venezuelans are in constant mobilization in defense of President Maduro and
against U.S. imperialist intervention. Major corporate media, including the
CBC in Canada, has completely shut out these voices and their actions in
defense of their democratically elected government out of their reporting.
This blatant omission is part of a larger campaign of mass media lies and
manipulations that is being carried out against Venezuela in order to
promote the U.S. “regime change” agenda. This media bias has already had
devastating effects in the buildup to the bombings and invasions of
Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and Syria. We can’t let it happen again!

Este evento tendrá lugar en los territorios tradicionales del las naciones

(Skwxwú7mesh).



El 13 de abril de 2002, la movilización masiva del pueblo de Venezuela
derrotó un golpe apoyado por los Estados Unidos contra el presidente
Chávez, menos de 48 horas después de que el golpe comenzara. 17 años
después, el pueblo de Venezuela continúa demostrando a los Estados Unidos y
sus aliados que defenderán su democracia, soberanía, autodeterminación y
proceso revolucionario bolivariano. Hace casi tres meses, el gobierno de
los EE.UU. y sus aliados, incluido el gobierno de Canadá, intentaron otro
golpe intentando imponer su autoproclamado “Presidente” Juan Guaido.



Este vicioso golpe apoyado por los Estados Unidos contra el presidente de
Venezuela, elegido democráticamente, Nicolás Maduro, fue derrotado a pesar
de las crecientes sanciones, el sabotaje feroz contra la red eléctrica y
las continuas amenazas de la intervención militar de los Estados Unidos.
Desde entonces, los EE.UU., Canadá y la UE han continuado su despiadada
campaña para estrangular la economía de Venezuela. El 15 de abril de 2019,
el gobierno de Canadá también anunció nuevas sanciones injustificadas
contra Venezuela.



Los venezolanos están en constante movilización en defensa del presidente
Maduro y en contra de la intervención imperialista de los Estados Unidos.
Los principales medios corporativos, incluido el CBC en Canadá, han
silenciado completamente estas voces y sus acciones en defensa de su
gobierno elegido democráticamente de sus informes. Esta omisión flagrante
es parte de una campaña más amplia de mentiras y manipulaciones de los
medios de comunicación que se está llevando a cabo contra Venezuela para
promover la agenda de "cambio de régimen" de los Estados Unidos. Este sesgo
de los medios ya ha tenido efectos devastadores en la acumulación de los
bombardeos e invasiones de Afganistán, Irak, Libia y Siria. ¡No podemos
dejar que vuelva a suceder!
