Hi,
FYI: On the subject of applying for 501-c3 status; the message received
below would indicate it is easier now than it was when I checked into it a
few years ago:

Hello, all.
We're looking into the streamlined IRS application process for
501(c)(3). For those who may not be aware of this recent change:

Related to this, we're looking at our currently very informal
organization, especially in terms of "the governing body" that the IRS
stipulates. Groups with 501(c)(3) status: any thoughts on what has
worked for you, recommendations, etc.?
Thanks,
Vicki
