Red & Black Cafe/Portland ABC 10/8/13 Planning Meeting Notes for the
Ending Colonial Legacy/Coyote Benefit Event, to be held jointly on
Saturday, 11/30/13 Red & Black Cafe, 7pm; following Red & Black's
Counter-Colonial Community Feast, set to begin at 4pm.

1. Upon discussion, it was deemed expedient (and less distracting) to
merge ABC's & R&B's events into one, as both events seek to frame this
"holiday" in terms mindful of the genocidal nature of "Thanksgiving."

2. The program will begin with the Counter-Colonial Community Feast, at
4pm. Since I just made that up ("CCC Feast") for lack of a better title,
if anyone has alternate definitive language for how this dinner should be
appear on the event flyer, as well as any specifics about the menu du
jour; please reply to this list.

3. Following the Feast, the Ending Colonial Legacy and Coyote Sheff
Benefit will proceed with:
a. Introduction and History - Danica (I was thinking it would be also be
great if you could recount something of your experiences on the Trail of
Tears trek you are about to embark on?)
b. Speaker: Cornel Pewewardy; indigenous author and educator
c. An excellent short video presentation: The Truth About Thanksgiving
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IP-APn__JT0
d. Women's drum group performance, Welcome Song/Honor Song (if this drum
group has a name or title, please reply to the list with that information
for the flyer.) Mention was also made tonight about Cornel possibly
drumming? If this becomes confirmed at some point and is desired to go on
the flyer, give a holler.
e. Cornel to introduce Coyote Sheff
f. Speaker: Coyote Sheff
g. dancing and music - TBA *(foregoing any BMI or ASCAP artists....who
needs em!)
h. ABC's version of Pin the Tail on the Donkey: Poke the Spear Through the
Pilgrim. Ha! Adam is getting us a pinata for the purpose. Suna will craft
some convincing looking spears.

4. Tabling: Tyler will make some awesome clocks, Suna making beaded items,
patches and, pins. Anyone else have ideas for stuff to table? Channi - I
will need you to help out with promotion and probably with something
else....pins? Herb acquisition for spirit bags? Or possibly with making
the pirate pinata into a pilgrim?

Note: Adam wanted me to remind everyone about the prisoner support meet
up: Sunday October 13th 2013 from 6:00pm-7:30pm at Cup Coffee Company:
7540 N Interstate Ave, Portland, OR. When you walk in there is a meeting
room downstairs. About the meeting: Oregon Jericho, Portland ABC, Portland
Books to Prisoners, PCASC, and Radical Prisoner Support Portland members
are meeting to discuss ideas and strategies around prisoner and Political
Prisoner support for the next year. All of you are welcome to attend and
if someone needs a ride, just let me know.

Thanks,
Suna
