*Global Day of Action for Gaza *- Friday April 25, 5:30pm
*Start at the Human Rights Monument, Elgin at Lisgar.*
"Answer the global call to action from the journalists, doctors, and civil
society of Gaza. For 18 months, the people of Gaza have been subject to a
horrific genocide carried out by israel, in partnership and with the
complete support of Canada, the United States, and its western allies.
We echo Gaza’s call for all people of conscience across the globe to
mobilize and demand an immediate end to the genocidal onslaught and an arms
embargo now!

*Ottawa May Day March* - Thursday May 1st, 5:00-7:00pm
*Starting at Confederation Park (Elgin @ Laurier)*
As a longstanding international holiday
<https://libcom.org/article/incomplete-true-authentic-and-wonderful-history-may-day-peter-linebaugh>,
May Day is a day to celebrate the collective power of all who labor – paid
and unpaid, formal and informal, in care work and field work – all of the
activities that sustain us and our community. It’s a day to recommit to
forging solidarity across borders against exploitation and dispossession.
Above all, May Day honours the power of ordinary people, working together,
to shape the conditions of our lives. ...
Our goal is to organize and host a march that is as welcoming and
accessible as possible to everyone, including kids, families, people
pushing strollers, people with mobility challenges, animal companions, and
anyone else committed to building a better, more equitable world for all.
We’ll move at a pace workable for everyone there, making sure that the
front of the march isn’t racing ahead and leaving the back trailing.

*Jane's Walk Ottawa* - Friday through Sunday, May 2-4
*Various locations throughout Ottawa/Gatineau*
Jane’s Walk is an annual festival of free, community-led walking
conversations inspired by the late urbanist, activist, and journalist Jane
Jacobs <https://www.janeswalkottawa.ca/en/jane-jacobs>. Jane’s Walk
festivals take place in hundreds of cities around the world on the first
weekend of May. Our walking tours encourage people to share stories about
their communities, discover unseen aspects of their city, and use walking
as a way to connect with neighbours. ...

The theme for Jane's Walk Ottawa 2025 is Third Places! Third places are
spaces that connect us, which feels more important than ever right now.
Some researchers show that third places can neutralize loneliness,
political polarization and create space for resilience. Third places are
the spaces where we gather outside of home and work.
Registration for walks is required in advance.
