====

On 2 Ottawa is a non-violent civil disobedience campaign designed to
encourage Canadian governments to take *urgent* and *meaningful* action on
the climate crisis.

Started earlier this year, there is currently a phase of local actions in
Ottawa, August 19th through September 9th.

The actions the past two weeks have already included a number of sit-down
street blockages as well as adding pink paint on Tom Thomson's paiting at
the National Gallery - actions which have resulted in a dozen or so people
arrested in total - as well as a number of marches and ongoing public
education events.

Some campaign members are residents of Ottawa, while others have travelled
here from out west.

There are future plans for further concentrated Ottawa phases of action in
both November and February, to build further pressure and colletive
strength.

Please see the list below of upcoming pre-announced events, to possibly
participate in,
and then below that list for links to learn more about the campaign and
what it is about.

First demand:
"The formation of a permanent, professional national firefighting agency
sized to meet the enormity of the crisis."
Also:
"We are demanding that the government create a legally binding citizens’
assembly, which is a jury-based, randomly selected sample of ordinary
people from all walks of life, so that they can determine how we can
transform our economy to tackle the climate and ecological emergency. This
is the best way to bypass the political and economic elites in Ottawa."
