There are two large Anishnabe-led events tomorrow. July 1st, locally
(Ottawa/Gatineau, unceded Algonquin Anishinabeg territory)
... as well as actions across Canada for #CancelCanadaDay
Locally, one begins 11:30am, at 10 Wellington, Gatineau
(outside the Indigenous Services Canada offices)

“The Anishnabe nations calls upon our red nation and allies to join us in
our grassroots Anishnabe-led March for Action!”
Everyone is welcome. Rain or shine. Dress-code will be Orange,
anti-colonial merch, your beautiful Indigenous selves.
WHEN: July 1st, 11:30AM
START: Indigenous Services, 10 Wellington, QC
END: @ Parliament Hill
BRING: drums, banners, noisemakers. Prepare for walking and the weather.
Please adhere to COVID-19 precautions.
“We will not celebrate the ongoing genocide within Canada against
Indigenous people. Instead we will gather to honour all of the lives lost
to the Canadian state, including the many lives lost to residential
schools. We will use our voices to support MMIWG2S, and to end land
extraction and devastation, child welfare, birth alerts, forced
sterilization, Police/RCMP brutality and all of the injustices that the
settler-state has normalized on these lands.”

homelands with support from amazing Indigenous youth, who are far from

We would like to take this time to say GITCHI MEEGWETCH all Volunteers!!!!
WE LOVE YOU ALL!!!!
Nishnawabe/Anishnaabe descendants of the Indian Residential School
Survivors and Survivors will be walking in Prayer, a Memorial Walk
Ceremony, for the 1323 (+ more to come) Children found on the grounds of
Residential School sites, Children of IRS that had not made it home, and
the Survivors of these schools, on July 1st 2021 @12:30pm.
This event will take place on Unceded Unsurrendered Algonquin Territory
Everyone is welcome! Wear your Orange T-shirts, wave your flags in solidary
and in honour of our Ancestors, they are waiting!!
**Tentative Agenda**
The Memorial walk will be from Victoria Island (portage bridge) to
Parliament Hill.
12:00 : Smudging Ceremony and honor the Staff for the Children, Land
Acknowledgement.
12:30: Honor Song- Healing Dance-
Walk to Parliament Hill in Ceremony with our Ancestors!!!
1:15 - 1:30 Eta@ Parliament Hill- Grief/healing Pipe Ceremony. EVERYONE &
ALL PIPE CARRIERS are welcome , Led by the "Grandchildren of Kitigan Zibi"
with the help of their Parents and Kokums. This will include smudging the
grounds and People.
2:00 pm Guest Speaker TBA
2:15 pm - Moment of Silence to honour the 215 that had been found and lead
the way for others.
2:20 pm Speakers - Susie Cheechoo, Spirit Name; Raining Eagle Feathers-
Sharing The 7 Grandfather Medicine wheel of Peace. (The picture we used for
the poster)
2:30 : Judd Smoke - Canadian National Officer for the Redrum Motorcycle
Club-Nominee for Chief of Alderville First Nation.
2:40 pm Open Mic
3 pm Round Dance
TBD : Closing Ceremony & Travelling Song

Ceremony, and will be guest speakers as well.

the People for healing and honour the ones who are now being found and many
more to be found, past and present IRRS, and to allow ourselves to Grieve

*Reimagining Canada Day Ceremony to Honour #Kamloops215*
Friday, July 2, 1PM - Location: 50 Sussex Dr., Ottawa
Ceremony on July 2nd at 1:00 pm to honour the children who died at
Kamploops IRS. Hearts planted on grounds of 50 Sussex Dr. will be blessed
by Algonquin Spiritual Advisor, Albert Dumont to help them on their journey
to the new Indigenous Cultural Centre at Algoma College. IRS Survivor Irene
Barbeau from the Children of Shingwauk Alumni Association will be present
to accept the Hearts. Participants are requested to wear their masks and
comply with Covid protocols. Be prepared for all weather as there is no
*rain date*.
