2)

*#DefundThePolice* and *#WeKeepEachOtherSafe*

On Sunday, local group Criminalization and Punishment Education Project
(CPEP) hosted a webinar, #WeKeepEachOtherSafe: A Community Forum to
Organize Alternatives to Policing on Algonquin Territory (Ottawa)

CPEP also organized an action event today, #DefundThePolice #AbolishPrisons,
"a multi-stop caravan and bike ride on unceded and unsurrendered Algonquin
Territory / in downtown Ottawa. [The event's purpose was] to provide
participants with an opportunity to come together in solidarity with others
engaged in struggles for decolonization, defunding the police, prison
abolition*, and building communities where we keep each other safe."
* The police interfered, but everyone was eventually able to leave with a
"warning" - see photos:

*TAKE ACTION for #DEFUNDTHEPOLICE in OTTAWA*

The city of Ottawa is holding a public consultation process to develop a
Community Safety and Well-Being Plan. Residents are able to submit
personal stories and/or suggestions UNTIL JULY 3, THIS FRIDAY !!

*The deadline was end of June, but an intervention has allowed an
extension, and email submissions will be accepted until Friday.
Send "your top safety and well-being priorities'' to:
CSWB at ottawa.ca (or SBEC at ottawa.ca if en Francais)

Read the public submissions (the "story feature") and other info about the
consultation process, at:
https://engage.ottawa.ca/Community-Safety-Well-Being-Plan

*Note that 90% of the submissions came in the two days between CPEP's
online community forum and the end-of-month deadline*
*ALSO - GET IN THE LOOP with CPEP*

Sign up to the CPEP email listserv, and follow them on social media:
