Good afternoon,

As you may be aware a “Day of Action” is taking place on Friday June 7th,
2019 in Ottawa. The day marks one year since the Ontario Conservatives
were elected to form government. During this time the government has
implemented or is in the process of implementing legislation and/or
policies that negatively affect many in our community.

Cuts to health care, cuts to education, cuts to legal aid, cuts to library
services and the list goes on. In addition there are currently attempts to
reduce provincial monies to municipalities and to move beer sales to corner
stores in the province. Suggestions that the government is looking at a
wage freeze for a number of provincial government employees are also being
made.

The June 7th, 2019 “Day of Action” in Ottawa will start at 7:00am and run
until approximately 8:30am. The action is an Information Blitz at
bus/transit stations around the city. Several organizations and/or union
locals are taking the lead for the morning leafleting event including: $15
and Fairness, PSAC, CUPE 2626, OPSEU 415, OPSEU 416, OSSTF D25, CIPP along
with others at specific “stations”. The following “stations” have been
identified for the morning action: Mackenzie King Station, Tunney’s Pasture
Station, Laurier Station, St. Laurent Station, Baseline Station. Please
come out to one of these Stations if you have the opportunity on Friday
morning to help out with the blitz.

At noon a rally is planned at the provincial government building located at
335 Preston Street. The rally will kick off at 12:00pm and run until
approximately 1:00pm. OPSEU 410, OPSEU 446, OPSEU Region 4 Ottawa Area
Council along with other organizations are the lead for this event. The
noon hour rally will include a BBQ, music and a few speeches. If you can
attend this event, it would be great.

Later in the day on Friday June 7th a larger rally is planned for the
Courthouse located at 161 Elgin Street at 5:00pm. This event includes as a
lead several of the Education Workers Union locals including OECTA, OSSTF
D25, OCEOTA, OCETFO along with others. Your participation at this larger
rally would be greatly appreciated.

Either way the day has been laid out to allow for maximum participation for
everyone. If you can make the morning’s info blitz at the start of your
day or if unable to make the morning’s event but have some free time over
lunch to the attend the noon hour rally or if the end of the day 5:00pm
rally is your only availability. If you can attend all three events,
please attend all three.

The actions as noted are a part of the Ontario Federation of Labour “Power
of Many” campaign. Similar events are planned across the province the same
day or on June 8th.

You will find attached additional information that can be used including
steps you can take to ensure our message is heard by Doug Ford and the
Conservatives on or around June 7th.

It is important that we have a strong turnout on June 7th. We, together,
need to ensure our message is a loud one on June 7th.

Thank you.

In solidarity,

Sean McKenny
President
