Today = two month anniversary of Overdose Prevention Ottawa's pop-up site!

They would like to invite you all to come this evening to celebrate:
- small park at corner of Cumberland and St. Patrick
- from 5-9pm (officially open 6-9pm daily, first hour is setup)
- there will be cake ("...though we might need a bigger cake haha!")

Some important messages/ ways to consider supporting these important
*lifesaving,
volunteer* efforts:

*Financial donations*
"We can accept etransfers. Donations to the Go Fund Me are also great, but
we lose 7%, etransfers to our gmail account give us 100%."

https://www.gofundme.com/OverdosePreventionOttawa

*Food and Warm Clothes Donations*
"We are always in need of: juice, water, granola bars, homebaked goods,
apple sauce, pudding cups, chips, healthy snacks, COFFEE, garbage bags,
scarves, mitts, tuques, sweaters, blanket, etc. Basically warm clothes and
food."
- also paper plates, Ziploc bags, *Hallowe'en treats*, ...

*Other support*
If you would like to support in other ways, please contact OPO:
overdosepreventionottawa at gmail.com or via Facebook or Twitter
- there have been volunteer trainings recently, and there is this upcoming
general (ie non-OPO) training on how to use Naxolone:

Today at 4pm! Friday September 8th, until 9pm

The Overdose Prevention Ottawa site needs our support to defend against
hostile area residents. bring friends!

Please see comments below about ensuring our presence is positive &
non-confrontational to ensure the space remains safe for the folks using
the site.

After 4 days of escalating actions against us, hostile neighbor are donig a
BBQ to reclaim the piece of grass (not a park despite its name) we have
been using for our site.

Please come at 4pm aka 16:00 (or whenever you can until 9pm aka 21:00).

We're at Cumberland and St Patrick's. Bring more people with you!

We ask that OPO supporters help co-create a safer space for our guests,
which means being present in a calm, positive and non confrontational
manner. This might be difficult for lots as these NIMBYs are quite
antagonistic. Its ok to have anger about this, just not on site tonight.
OPO organizers will be busy emotionally supporting our guests, please
consider coming if you feel able to remain grounded and NOT engage with the
NIMBYS.

We are there to center the safety of our guests, not to change anyones
mind.

There is likely to be rain, stickers that say "OPO supporter", candles for
a vigil, media, a strong police presence, a drummer and some musicians.

Wondering what to bring to site tonight at 4?
- a cake that says "Happy Day 15 OPO!"
- signs that affirm people who use drugs lives
- rainwear
- your grounded self, ready to center the safety of folks who are already
overcriminalised. We are not inviting you to change anyone's mind.

Sign ideas:
People who use drugs are my neighbours and I love them
Families for harm-reduction
I live in this neighbourhood and I support OPO
OPO come to my backyard
Someone's life is at stake here
Overdose death is preventable
Thank you OPO

"As indicated by the Chief of Police earlier this week, there have been
100s of people who have voice support for OPO, only few complaints."
