Featuring films and speakers from the Algonquins of Barriere Lake (Quebec),
as well as Muskrat Falls (Labrador) folks who are struggling with criminal
charges laid against land and water protectors who opposed flooding of
their territory.
2) Barriere Lake presentation to Parliament Standing Committee on
Indigenous and Northern Affairs

1. Friday April 7:
Let's Talk Land Defence on Campus!
Join us for an evening of land defence featuring movie screenings and
speakers from the Algonquins of Barriere Lake who are fighting off a mining
company as well as Muskrat Falls folks who are struggling with criminal
charges laid against land and water protectors who opposed flooding of
their territory. If Carleton University can host a security symposium on
how to criminalize land defenders (

an event on how to support them!

2. Algonquins of Barriere Lake present to Parliament Standing Committee on
the impacts of third party management
Chief Casey Ratt, Tony Wawatie (Interim Director General), and Russ Diabo
(of the Algonquin Nation Secretariat) appeared as witnesses before the
House of Commons Standing Committee on Indigenous and Northern Affairs
(Tuesday April 4) to present evidence on impacts of INAC's Third Party
Management policy on the Algonquins of Barriere Lake.

3. Algonquins of Barriere Lake Press Conference - End Third Party
Management!
A press conference was held on March 23, which focused on the ABL's
immediate demand to end third party management. Featuring Chief Casey Ratt,
Tony Wawatie, MP Charlie Angus, and Shiri Pasternak.
