Greetings, *we've got some more events for you*
There is a series of events being offered by Transition Ottawa in Oct/Nov,
also a number of events as part of Climate Justice Weeks in October
--> info on both is below, just scroll down
*BUT*
We first wanted to alert you that
the *'Occupy Wall Street' movement* is coming to Ottawa!
October 15th has been declared as a world-wide
day of solidarity with what is happening in New York.
While many other different US cities have already started things,
October 15 is going to get a lot more places involved
There's an '*Occupy Ottawa*' initial planning meeting
--> this *THURSDAY, 7-10pm (October 6th)
*at University of Ottawa:
Jock Turcot University Centre (UCU), room 215 (next to the pub, '1848')
FB event: https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=182998885108542
** note: this is decentralized, there are no official 'leaders',
only a few people who've stepped up to get things started.
This meeting will really be about figuring out how to proceed

Transition Ottawa is offering a series of events that *you won't want to
miss this fall*:
-- all info is also up at: http://transitionottawa.ning.com/
*1. System Change not Climate Change*
*October 6*, *7:30 pm* *- Council of Canadians*
The Council of Canadians has launched an exciting new multimedia education
project called "System Change not Climate Change." This slogan is central to
a growing and vibrant global movement for climate justice. But what does
system change mean? And where is the link with the climate crisis? How are
struggles for environmental and social justice interconnected? Come join the
discussion and learn more about the project which features over twenty
videos from a range of speakers on key climate justice issues and real
solutions to the climate crisis:

*2. Building Local Economy for Our Changing Times*
*October 20, 7:30 pm* *- Mike Nickerson*
As bringing in products from far away becomes more expensive, local job
opportunities will expand. With more people working to provide for local
needs, citizens will have more reason to interact with each other, leading
to greater engagement in local affairs and the consequent uplift in spirits
that comes with belonging. Mike Nickerson, author of *Life, Money and
Illusion* and *Living on Earth as if we want to stay* will present the
context and facilitate a discussion about how global changes increase local
opportunities for a more satisfying and secure world.

*3. Supporting your Transition*
*November 3*,* 7:30 pm* *- Andrew MacDonald*
Sharing what transition means to us gives ideas, normalizes your concerns,
and makes your own transition visible and possible - all while being a great
way to spend an evening. Join us for an experiential few hours on what
support looks and feels like. And how you can receive that support on an
ongoing basis.
Facilitated by Andrew MacDonald.

*4. Food for All - A Food Action Plan for Ottawa*
*November 17, 7:30 pm *- *JustFood*
"A Food Action Plan for Ottawa: A Community Vision" is a response to local
food issues and concerns. It tackles challenges such as building a local
food system, ensuring access to good food for everybody, greening our city
through urban agriculture, and promoting health through food security and
good nutrition. Now we're calling everybody who eats: how can we work
together to make Ottawa a leader in terms of food issues in this country?
