CALLS FOR STORY PITCHES:
*(job opportunities follow afterwards)*

*The Leveller*
==> http://leveller.ca/2011/05/summer-magazine-2011/
A recipient of PROMdemonium 2011 funding, the Leveller is publishing a
magazine summer issue and want to hear your story ideas!
In addition to allowing for critical and inspiring writing on social justice
issues important to residents of Ottawa and surrounding communities, we are
interested in providing a space for photo essays, cartoons, and other art
with a social justice focus.
* Deadline for pitches/ideas: *Monday May 30*
* Submit to: editors.the.leveller at gmail.com
* Story meeting: Wed Jun 1, 6pm at Umi Cafe, 610 Somerset St. W

*The Dominion*
As we do every month, in June we will pay two contributors for news features
to be published in The Dominion. We prioritize solutions-oriented news
pieces with a Canadian angle, including photo essays and video pitches.
Pitches are welcome from anyone; priority for payment goes to those who have
previously contributed.

* Deadline: *June 1st*

*Geez Magazine*
==>
http://www.geezmagazine.org/blogs/entry/a-double-call-for-pitches-geez-23-and-24/
** 'The *Sacred Space Issue*', deadline *May 31*
How can we re-imagine and re-design our lives away from capitalist-infused
efficiency and consumption? Do our sacred spaces resemble heartless retail
structures and corporate warehouses? How can the design of our spaces
reflect a move toward wonder, mystery, neighbourliness and love?
** 'The *Privilege Issue*', deadline *August 1*
Some questions to get your ideas flowing: Are you an underprivileged or
privileged person with something to say? A do-gooder who did harm with a
story to tell? What happens when people and communities become aware of
privilege? How can privileged people work to undo or undermine privilege?
How do we avoid the trappings of privilege as activists, allies, and people
of faith? How does your faith community engage with privilege?
