*Rally to Save the Pallisades Media Arts Academy/Support Local 4772*

Sisters and Brothers,
The Pallisades Media Arts Academy (PMAA) was a place that offered music
based programs for the community around Jane and Finch. On April 30, 2014
the PMAA was closed down under a claim that there was no more funding. The
staff who ran programs at PMAA had recently unionized into CUPE 4772;  they
were told their jobs were lost not because they had unionized (though
threats had been made that those who signed union cards would be fired) but
because the funding had 'run out'. The PMAA was in its 2nd year of a 3 year
funding program through Trillium. The affected CUPE members are currently
in hearings at the labour board.

There are two major issues happening at the same time:
1) The brothers and sisters of CUPE 4772 need their jobs back.
2) The community needs its music programs back.

The users of the PMAA and the surrounding community have organized a series
of rallies since the closure of the PMAA. We are asking you to show up to
the next rally, on Thursday September 25, to show your support for the
workers who have been unemployed since they took the brave step of
unionizing and to show your support for the community which has lost its
music studio.
