Hey All!

Today's DisOrientation brings another amazing lineup! Creating Communities
of Care and Resistance + the Line 9 Walking Tour and the finale with a
political comedy night with Aamer Rahman and Ryan McMahon! *Note*: If you
have not reserved your tickets for the comedy show- YOU NEED TO DO SO HERE!

TODAY is the start of DisOrientation 2014, which will run from Monday,
September 22nd to Friday, September 26th. Throughout the week, OPIRG York
and partner organizations will be offering a series of amazing workshops,
panels and teach-ins, filled with storytelling, skill-sharing and
art-making. DisOrientation is fundamentally about sharing skills, stories,
and knowledge that demonstrate the vibrancy of our communities.

*CREATING COMMUNITIES OF CARE + RESISTANCE*
*TODAY: Tuesday, September 23rd*
· Facilitator: Leah Lakshmi Piepzna Samaransinha, Loree Erickson,  Kyisha

· Time: 2-4pm.
· Location: RM 313 Student Center
· Description of Event:

What does creating communities of care and resistance look like in
communities and our campus? Come listen and ask questions to panelist
speakers who will be sharing with us their thoughts and experiences in
 centering safety and accessibility.

*Line 9 Walking Tour *
*TODAY: Tuesday, September 23rd*
4-5:30pm
Meet in the parking lot of Yorkgate Mall (northwest corner of Jane and
Finch) near the hydro corridor
Walk duration: Approx. 1.5hours

Line 9 is an aging pipeline that goes from Sarnia to Montreal. There are
plans to begin transporting tar sands crude oil through the pipeline. The
pipeline passes through the Jane-Finch community. The walking tour will
highlight some of the main concerns Line 9 poses in the community. Tokens
to be provided!
