Greetings all,

It's with lots of mixed feelings of excitement, sadness and love that I
would like to say goodbye to you all as Volunteer Coordinator for OPIRG
York.

As I'm sure most of you know, today is my last day as coordinator after
working in the OPIRG office for the past 3 years! I am very excited (and
nervous) as I move into the direction of pursing a legal career either at
Windsor University or Seneca College (not decided yet) in September.

These past three years have been transformative for me, I am constantly in
awe of the ways that I have witnessed so many people come through the York
campus and grow into experienced, thoughtful and compassionate organizers
within Toronto and all over the world. You have all taught me so much.
It's been an honour to have had the chance to build campaigns, structure,
capacity and resources with you all and it has been a humbling experience
to work with people who bring their full heart to committing to struggles
that they believe in and are apart of.

I am so thankful for the opportunity to have interacted with you all,
whether it be over email, in person, at tables and events, your presence
and commitment to OPIRG York and our work is something that I will take
with me in addition to the many things that I have learnt and continue to
challenge myself on in so many ways.

I am so excited for for all the amazing things that OPIRG York has already
done and is going do in the upcoming year, this is our 20th year of being
and we are celebrating by continuing the important resource sharing, skill
building and educational work that we have been doing for so long!

With that in mind, it is with great excitement that I would like to
introduce our new incoming Volunteer Coordinator, Victoria Barnett, who
will be taking the reigns as of next week (starting Monday July 30th).
Many of you might already know Victoria from her extensive work in
coordinating the Stop The Cuts Network, or maybe you remember her from
when she was working at York and at OPIRG York in the Fair Trade coalition
and Sustainable Purchasing group that got York U to commit to having fair
trade clothing. OPIRG York is honoured to have her working with us, and we
are sure that she is looking forward to meeting all of you within her new
capacity as Volunteer coordinator!

Feel free to send her a welcome email at victoria at opirgyork.ca (which will
be up and running as of monday) and come by the office to see how you can
get involved in the exciting stuff we have planned for DisOrientation and
this year in general at OPIRG York!

OPIRG York will be hosting a Good Bye party for me TONIGHT (Friday July
27th) at the Common (College/Dufferin) that starts at 8pm. I would love to
see you there! There will be free food and lots of laughs!
Here is the facebook event that has more info:

If you would like to stay in touch - please email me! I will be available
at this email for another month and would love to keep up with all the
amazing work you are all doing.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!

Love and solidarity,
Aruna Boodram
Outgoing Volunteer Coordinator
