Hi friends!
It is that time of the year and it is CHRY's yearly fundrive. CHRY 105.5FM
is the only community radio station offering community programming for
York students and the communities in the North York region. I hope this
year everyone will be support CHRY and donate money to support OPIRG
York's radio show PrOPIRGanda.
If you haven't listened to it, you can tune in tomorrow (Monday) for a
special Fundrive panel on alternative media and resistance - where we'll
have a panel of different alternative media sources in Toronto discussing
the limitations and promises of various alternative media projects.
But seriously, it's expensive running a radio station and CHRY is 100%
non-profit and volunteer based. PrOPIRGanda has been playing a special
role by specifically reporting social justice and activist news in
Toronto. We used the airwaves to provide updates on G20 activities and
now, G20 legal defense. We also provided programming for Israeli Apartheid
week. If you want to hear a sample of one our shows, here is a link to an
interview i did with Vijay Prashad on the G20 and Third World Project here
(http://www.g20breakdown.com/2010/06/interview-g8-undermined-3rd-world/)
I will be giving away a few gifts on the show: subscriptions to Upping the
Anti, Briarpatch Magazine, Adbusters and Canadian Dimensions. Everyone who
donates will also be entered into CHRY's grand prize draw - including two
round trips to Kingston, Jamaica (oooh! aaaah!). You also get a tax
receipt for your donation! And there are shirts, hoodies, and mugs to be
had depending on how much you donate.
You can go to chry.fm to see all the prizes and give aways they have.
You can also donate online Canadahelps.org at this specific link:
(https://www.canadahelps.org/DonationDetails.aspx?cookieCheck=true). Just
write PrOPIRGanda in the message if you want to support that specific
show.
Thanks so much!
Sharmeen.
