hey,
so i've got 1 workshop anf 3 events lined up. we haven't had a meeting,
so i haven't been able to talk to anyone about this. this would be a good
time to raise any objections!
the workshop is part of tools for change and someone from omd will be
presenting with tara lyons and elke dring. i asked monika and nick 'cause
there on FB but haven't heard back. jeff would you like to do this
workshop?? http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=183979291629755
other than that i have been talking with eric in kingston, emily in guelph
and sara in toronto about doing some educational fund raiser type events.
i was planning to do this, although if someone wants to go for a drive and
also do some of the events that would be ideal (kingston: jan. 29, guelph:
jan. 30, toronto: jan., 30). the first two events should be sort of a
combination of g20 stuff, j18 stuff and a bit of moe general prison
abolition context, while i'm not as certain about TO but i think it might
be a bit different as they were planning a letter writing night before and
they are now going to figure something out.
i though, though, that at the very least someone might want to go to visit
roger for the 28th in which case we could at least go to kingston together
if not guelph and toronto. has anyone figured out visits and such yet?
apologies if folks feel like i shouldn't have been doing all of this
without checking in with the group. i felt like it was important and a
good opportunity...we'll be able to raise some money, get our story out
there and build up some support for roger which all seemed like good
things to me.
below is the full text for the jan. 25 workshop.

Prison Abolition aims to end the prison industrial complex (PIC). The PIC
is a system that uses policing, courts, and imprisonment to solve
problems. We dont agree that we need the PIC to keep us safe. Instead, we
work to build safe and healthy communities that do not depend on prisons
and punishment.
This workshop focuses on doing jail solidarity - ensuring that friends and
family that have been arrested are as safe as we can make them, supporting
prisoners, and providing court support for defendants who are currently
going through through the criminal injustice system.
