Present: John, Joeli, Nick, Dan

1. Finances

Dan has a cheque from the PayPal account to deposit in our account,
which may allow us to settle things with Greedspawn.
We hope to be able to contribute to Claude 50% of his legal costs or
something like $1500

* Dan & Joeli (& Monika?) will go to the bank next week to deposit the
cheque, get a money order for Greedspawn, and add Joeli as a co-signer
on the account.
* Joeli will ask Monika to come to next meeting, and bring any info she
might have which would help us do a little financial summary, including
bank & PayPal statements or balances, amounts of recent donations,
expected incoming donations, and amounts owed
* Dan will make sure OMD PO Box not still active and cancel it if it is

2. Upcoming Speaking Event

It was discussed and we think we have _just_ enough time to pull an
event off for May 18
Working title/theme is "There Are Political Prisoners in Canada"
Event will feature Ann Hansen, a short film, and someone currently
facing charges around the G20
Event will be held in basement room at Legion. Room holds 50 people or
so. Legion just wants a donation in return.
We decided against holding the event on U of O campus.
We will pay travel expenses for speakers.
The main focus of this event is not to raise money, but we will be
asking for a suggested donation of $5 at the door and selling merch.
We will print 11x17 posters, and derive other promotional material from
the poster

We're going to try to get all this done by Monday May 2 so that we can
have a draft poster at our next meeting:
* John to confirm with Ann Hansen that she can come, and give her
background on what we're trying to do
* John to ask Jaggi Singh if he can speak, and give him some background
* Nick to tell Mandy H. about the event and ask if she can speak
* Nick to talk with Karl K. about options for films we could show and
how to source the films Matt suggested
* Dan to come up with some inflammatory prose for the poster
* John to ask Pascale if there are "Solidarity" t-shirts we can sell, if
more can be made, and if she can contribute original art to poster

Other related tasks:
* Joeli to make buttons
* John will work on poster layout once we have info and art

==> CALLOUT FOR ORIGINAL POSTER ART
  * if you can contribute original art for the poster, or know someone
who can, please let us know!

3. Probation Update

Roger will have a parole hearing in August, with the possibility of day
parole on Sept. 12. This is not the same accelerated parole review
process which Roger was eligible for until the Tories canned the
legislation just before the writ was dropped. It is much less of a sure
thing.

4. Visits & Needs

Visiting hours at Pittsburgh Institution are Wednesday 5:30 pm to 9 pm
and Saturday and Sunday 8 am to 3 pm. You need to request approval to
visit Roger by filling out the form at
http://www.csc-scc.gc.ca/text/region/nat-fac-dir-eng.shtml#o3, including
2 pictures of yourself, and sending it to the address for Pittsburgh
Institution at
http://www.csc-scc.gc.ca/text/region/nat-fac-dir-eng.shtml#o3. You then
need to book individual visits 48 hours in advance by calling
1-866-746-6774. The only things you can bring with you on a visit to
give roger are a few photographs, and they can't be pornographic.

John is planning to visit Roger on the first weekend in June and will
have a place to stay nearby overnight and into the next week. He will be
able to take a few others along.

Books can be sent to the librarian at Pittsburgh institution, which
Roger will then be able to access. Nick will get the full address,
including the name of the librarian, and post it to the list.

5. Next Meeting
