Via Chris Keefer:

A Presentation and Night of Conversation with Doctor and Internationalist Gregory Wilkinson about his 2 years in Haiti fighting the Cholera outbreak with the Cuban Henry Reeve's Medical Brigade.

Greg is originally from Oakland California but received the opportunity to train at the Cuban international medical school (ELAM) on full scholarship along with thousands of other students from across Latin America, Africa and Asia. His only requirement for the full 6 year scholarship was a verbal commitment to work with under-served communities upon graduation.

After completing his medical studies Greg decided to serve in Haiti while earning his residency in Family Medicine. He was stationed in L'Estere Artibonite, one of the areas hardest hit by the Cholera epidemic. Along with his Cuban counterparts he provided free medical attention often in remote areas accessible only by foot or boat.

Come and hear the untold story of Cuba's role in responding to the Cholera outbreak and the construction of a public health care system in Haiti.

Thurs Sept 6th at 7:00pm
