The Health for All Family Health Team and the Markham Family Medicine
Teaching Unit opened in May 2010. Our vision is to provide excellent
primary care for our patients and community in a dynamic clinical and
educational environment that affirms our belief in Health for All. The
unit is currently staffed by 6 faculty physicians, 4 family medicine
residents and a dedicated administrative team. We are now recruiting
non-physician health professionals who will enhance and support the
vision of this Family Health Team. Initial positions available are:
- Family Practice nurse (RN)
- Dietician
- Social worker
Later this year, further positions will be available including nurse
practitioner and occupational therapist.
The Health for All FHT is located in a beautiful new building beside
Markham Stouffville Hospital. Markham is a community of remarkable
cultural diversity and 57% of its residents were born outside Canada.
The mission of our FHT is to provide patient care of the highest
quality through our interprofessional team. We seek to be innovators
in medical education at our Family Medicine Teaching Unit ? training
new family physicians in a setting where everyone teaches and everyone
learns. The team seeks to actively demonstrate commitment to our
mandate and mantra: Health for All. We affirm health as a fundamental
human right. We will provide excellent primary care in a spirit of
global solidarity that recognizes and respects our common humanity and
socio-cultural backgrounds in addressing all interconnected
determinants of health.
