David Eby, a lawyer with the Pivot Legal Society, said he "just about fell out of bed" when he heard about **[Geoff] Plant's** appointment. "Plant has no experience with the Downtown Eastside and experience with homelessness except to cause it," he said, noting Plant was part of a government that for many years stopped building social housing and held welfare rates down by making it harder to receive.
