**SHAC** stands for **Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty**. The loosely-organized group was set up in 1999 with the sole aim of closing down Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS). Located in the UK and USA, HLS is the second largest contract testing lab in the world. HLS are infamous for torturing and killing 500 animals a day in tests for products such as weedkiller, food colourings and drugs. They have been exposed 6 times for disgusting animal cruelty and rule-breaking.
