I know that certain topics generate more “whining” slurs directed towards me than others. When I speak about poverty issues or sexism, I get markedly more accusations of “whining” than when I complain about the Iraq War or the environment’s destruction. Although in the 1970’s, when I complained about environmental issues, I was labeled a “whiner”...Thus “whining” has some political context to it. Different things are perceived as “whines” in different eras. Since certain topics are perceived as “whining” topics, due, it seems, to the status quo, it makes sense that “whining” has political implications.
