The state of Michigan has given northern Michigan tribes and environmental groups a terrible Christmas present: Approval of permits for the Kennecott Minerals Company to build its Eagle Project sulfide mine along Lake Superior and underneath a prime trout stream near Marquette.
A protest rally will be held starting at 12 noon ET on Monday, Dec. 17, 2007 in front of the u.S. Courthouse and Post Office in Marquette, Michigan.
