One of the driving forces behind [the Senate] hearing was a petition signed by more than 10,000 scientists...decrying administration attempts to politicize science. The **Union of Concerned Scientists** (UCS) circulated that petition along with an **"A to Z Guide to Political Interference in Science"** that documents hundreds of instances of censorship and political interference. Signatories include 52 Nobel Laureates, 63 National Medal of Science recipients and almost 200 members of the National Academies of Science.
