When Palestinian resistance groups engage in suicide bombings against Israeli civilians, this is properly called terrorism. What then are we to make of the latest act of Palestinian armed resistance which involved the killing of three Israeli Occupation Force (IOF) soldiers and the capture of another?
Providing the Israeli soldier is not killed and treated in a humane fashion, the Palestinian groups are entirely within their rights according to international law, which grants them the right to armed resistance against colonial occupation (although not to intentionally target civilian non-combatants or engage in actions that carelessly result in their deaths). By contrast, the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land and repeated attacks on it's territory and people, to say nothing of their deliberate and careless killings of Palestinian civilians, is completely illegal, as confirmed by dozens of United Nations resolutions over the years.
