By Tim Maton April 17, 2005 "The meaning of Section 35 is a hotly debated issue in Canadian courts. The outcome of this debate will have long standing affects on the future of Indigenous peoples in Canada. The underlying principles within Section 35 carry importance in the way that we relate to and understand the process of reconciliation between the Crown and Aboriginal people. Reconciliation for past wrongs and finding resolution to Indigenous conflicts with the Crown in Canada have spurred numerous court battles and parliamentary decisions, including the decision to add section 35 into the Constitution."
