Most sickeningly, Freddy Bernal vowed to restore the statue to its previous state. Many people here are utterly disgusted at the idea that a section of the Bolivarian government intends to use public funds to repair a statue of Christopher Columbus, which had been torn down by the same people who would give their lives to protect that same government."
