Tha' bitter truth
by Paula Simon
Some hard decisions confront us today. Millions of people throughout the
world are perishing at the hands of racist aggression, both here and
abroad. Economic, legal and physical chains are sending our people to
early graves day by day. Our future is being rendered extinct.
Our survival is an unbearable hell of existence. Our children are dying
by the tens of thousands. Our men and our women are being captured and
detained in torture cells and being given either a life sentence or a
death sentence.
Indeed, we are being "sentenced" - or should I say silenced - into
extinction. The constant torment of poverty is causing us to take
revenge upon ourselves and kill each other or self-destruct with
chemical weapons dumped upon us by the tons (drugs). And the doors
remain firmly closed against us to "freedom, justice and equality" in
the world that is run by murderers and thieves.
Since it is both obvious and clear that "they" aren't in any hurry to
relieve our "pain and stress," maybe we need to take the initiative and
relieve our own. We have been living in "shock and awe" for way too long.
Instead of reacting to injustices upon injustices heaped upon us
relentlessly by those who do not have any of our best interests at
heart, we need to become proactive about our own survival needs. We need
to play the game both offensively and defensively at the same time.
Taking sucker punches to the head and below the belt and allowing
ourselves to be shoved to the curb is not a fair fight. Bullies will
always prey upon cowardly, fearful "victims." Striking death blows that
hit the vital points of our opponents' weaknesses to bring them to their
knees is the only way to dismantle their alleged strengths and shut them
down.
Elijah Muhammad once said you cannot expect the same man who dug a hole
for the elephant and put him in it to have the desire to lift him out.
Why do we expect the same system that created our inferior status, our
human degradation, our destabilization, our imprisonment and death to
have the capacity for mercy to release us from our oppressions? Could it
be that we have internalized the great white lie that "white is right"?
The history books do not agree with our delusions. The people we are
looking to to show us mercy and give us justice and equality are the
same people who murder, starve, imprison and subjugate millions of
people throughout the world - and have done so for centuries. Only a
fool wearing rose-colored glasses would think they will stop.
A leopard does not change its spots. You cannot teach an old, vicious
dog new tricks. Do you honestly think that the dogs who run this
vicious, bloodsucking system give a damn about us? When did they ever do
that?
The bitter truth, the reality pill, is that as long as "they" continue
to have power in this world, they will continue to oppress us as a
people. Wake up and smell the coffee, eternal dreamers. Then take the
coffee pot off the stove, spill the contents until it is empty, and
break the pot and the coffee-maker. Check into reality and out of
self-delusion.
We not only need to dismantle the mechanisms and devices that perpetuate
racist terror against us; we need to destroy the very lifeblood of those
who perpetuate it. Just as "they" struggle relentlessly to keep us down,
we must struggle relentlessly to bring them down. By any means necessary.
Am I talking about waging warfare? Am I talking about engaging in
revolution? Yes, I am. Piecemeal change has not proven effective.
Liberation from oppression is not a board game won by taking steps after
rolling dice. We can roll dice for centuries.
We can take one step forward and two steps back and all it really
amounts to is a non-stop shuffle marking time. Enough with the dancing
to our enemy's offbeat tunes. Enough with endless compromise. It is time
to take the upper hand and bring permanent defeat to any and all who
stand against us.
Oppressed people throughout the world have shed their blood to be free
of imperialist oppression. Children have gone to the battlefields. But
we have been quiet as church mice, hiding from the truth.
They have shown us no mercy. In turn, they are fully deserving of no
mercy from us. They have allowed us no measure of peace. It is time for
them to know no peace. They have used every weapon imaginable against
us. It is time to point every weapon at our disposable at them.
All is fair in love and war. Signing treaties in the midst of battle is
sure defeat. History has already shown us that "they" do not keep the
promises they make. Ask any Native American. So why do we continue to
ask for more promises to be made?
If the schools that we send our children to do not educate our children,
then shut them down and create our own educational system. If the laws
that govern us create misery in our lives, then do not abide by them. If
the taxes that we pay cause innocent people to die, then stop paying them.
If the jobs we are given keep us in poverty, then stop taking them;
create our own jobs. If the dollars we spend do not benefit us, then
stop spending them. Create our own monetary system, our own medium of
exchange.
If they will not feed us, then take our land back and plant our own
seeds. Elijah Muhammad said the same earth that grows wheat for the
white man will grow wheat for the Black man. How many famines do we need
to understand that truth?
We are pawns because we choose to be. We are slaves because we refuse to
do what we have to do to be free. Sundiati Acoli once said for those who
fear the fight today for fear of the fight tomorrow, tomorrow comes anyway.
We can either allow ourselves to be ruled by cowardice and fear, or we
can conquer fear with courage and cowardice with fearlessness and
resolve. Every human being living and breathing on this earth has the
divine right to freedom, justice and equality.
These things are not concessions to be meted out by our adversaries.
They are not trophies to be won at social and political competitions.
Our existence is not a game to be played by rules that calculate our
defeat.
When the African man, Jesus, went into the temple and turned over the
tables of coins and commodities and condemned the rulers as robbers and
thieves, he was speaking about the rulers of earthly kingdoms. We must
do the same as he did.
He faced death at the hands of his enemies and was resurrected into the
kingdom of God, the Most High. Are we too blind to see the analogy? Or
is our faith in ourselves smaller than a mustard seed. As a man
thinketh, so he is.
Thinking of ourselves a "minorities" keeps us in the category of being
powerless. Thinking of ourselves as subjects keeps us in the category of
being slaves. Thinking of ourselves as being at the mercy of an
"undefeatable" foe keeps us in the realm of subjugation.
Instead of being made examples, we need to flip the script and make
examples of those who have made examples of us. Instead of continuing to
be injected by fear, we need to inject fear. Instead of wearing the
label of "terrorist" when we fight for freedom from terrorists, we need
to recognize who the real terrorists are and pin the tail on the real
donkeys.
Millions of lives born and unborn are hanging in the balance. The
useless suffering of millions of innocent people will continue until we
get up off of our procrastinating asses and move forward to total and
complete victory.
We taught this world everything that it knows. Our acquiescence has
given us nothing but hell. Compliance with treachery has awarded us the
rough road. Only by taking the path not taken will we ever reach the
"promised land" that God Himself has given to us.
Remember, David, another African man, defeated Goliath with one stone to
the dome. God is trying to tell us something every time He speaks. But
we cannot "hear" the truth until we believe it.
Our vessels must be emptied of lies before we can receive the sustenance
of truth. Our ears must shut out the noise of confusion and deception
before we can hear the clear tones of righteousness and begin to "do the
right thing."
I think I've said enough. It's time, warriors of truth and
righteousness, to move.
