SOURE: CBC North Jun 21 2004 A fuel line running through the middle of the
community of Kugluktuk in Nunavut burst, spilling 2,000 litres of contaminated
diesel fuel into the ground. This CBC story focuses on what a "good job" the
clean up crews did, calling this disaster for the small community a "learning
experience". The article barely mentions that the small town now must deal with
cleaning this mess up or its long term effects on the soil. It also does not
look at the poverty present in many small northern communities which prevent
them from paying for essentials such as replacing old pipelines.
