The city council for a town called Huntingdon (in Québec) passed a 10:30pm
curfew this week for youth under 16 in an effort "to stop teenage vandalism."
This story first came up a few months ago, when this city council was planning
on making the curfew applicable to youth under 18. The fact that this curfew
now exists means that this decision now has the potential to legally back any
other city councils who are interested in doing the same thing. It also
seriously infringes on the rights of youth, and reflects Canada's move towards
a stronger police/surveillance state. No curfew is "watered-down"! Who is next?
