Proponents of the current "War on Terror," including the U.S.-led aggression in 
Iraq, like to draw historical parallels between World War II and the situation 
today.  Thus, every enemy of the U.S. and its allies is "a new Hitler" and 
every solution short of war and violence is denounced as "appeasement." 
 However, as the article below makes clear, for the U.S. WW II was far 
from the "good war" it's claimed to be in the press and popular media. 
 Furthermore, and similar to U.S. support for Saddam Hussein in the 1970's 
& '80's, the U.S. government and business assisted Hitler in his rise to power 
and only turned against Nazi Germany after Hitler declared war on the U.S.
