The Globe And Mail | Comment | A27 | Thursday 16 December 2004 Laboratories for lawlessness, mob rule, violence veto - McGill professor Gil Troy's hyberbolic rant last week in these pages about Montreal's cancellation of talks by Benjamin Netanyahu, Ehud Barak, Jean Charest and Paul Cellucci invokes images of riot and mayhem that threaten a breakdown of civilization at the hands of unruly savages. The constabulary must be called in to restore order, the establishment must exert itself. Prof. Troy seems to be lost in a colonial past - or is it a colonial present? Does he dream of America establishing order, Fallujah-style, in Montreal? Or Israel, the way it has in Rafah?
