"Venezuela's government is quickly moving towards the adoption of Open Source software, in a bid to save money and move towards technological independence. 'This follows the principle of national scientific independence, so that we do not depend on privately owned software. If knowledge does not have owners, then intellectual property is a trap set by neo-liberalism,' Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said last September when he announced to be working on a decree to adopt Open Source software in the public administration."
