Halifax -- The Nova Scotia government appears ready to take the lead in 
negotiating an agreement with former residents of Africville. The announcement 
comes after a United Nations [report was] released at the start of the month. 
According to the report, the province should re-examine the destruction of the 
community 34 years ago, and the need for compensation.
