dear friends please read this,
re:sponsors, donors and loans needed for political trial and for touring.

Some of you may have heard that on May 15th 2004 I was arrested in a
restaurant in Montreal a few hours after a demonstration related to the
Anarchist Bookfair.  I was taken into custody and help for 46 hours in the
police station and courthouse without proper food, clothing or anything to
sleep on.  Out of the 22 of us arrested only three of us were subjected to
such treatment, one of us being from PEI and me being from Vancouver.  I
have been charged with participating in an unlawfull assembly and for
mischief.  An undercover cop is vouging that he witnessed me smashing a
2003 blue ferrari though I never came near such a vehicle.  They arrested
the wrong person but once they had me and realized what I was they decided
to fuck me over.

Our trial takes place on March 7-11 and will likely resume in the fall or
following winter.  The demonstration we were arrested at was called "THEY
ARE RICH BECAUSE WE ARE POOR AND IT ALL JEAN CHARESTS FAULT!"  It became a
battle with the riot cops and a lot of people were arrested.  As many of
you know my only income is PPMB/Disability 1 benefits and so far the plane
tickets and everything has come out of my own pocket.  This has become a
major setback for me, but with the help of others we are pulling it
together.

However I am attempting to turn crisis into opportunity.  I have begun to
arrange a series of shows out east to fundraise for other groups causes
and to also put the word around.  As I played around Ontario for a long
time I already have a lot of people who want to pick up my newest CD. 
Unfortunately all the CD's I had I gave to people for free or next to
nothing and I haven't been able to afford to create more.  My goal is to
create a new run of CD's to bring home, selling those CD's will pay for my
trip!!  If you haven't heard my latest RADICAL FOLK OF THE GREAT NORTH,
JOEY ONLY AND THE COMRADES its about the most political modern-folk CD
ever made in Canada!!  It has to be distributed!!

I have already organized shows in Ottawa, Peterborough, Belleville and am
waiting on some more!  I will play anywhere out there so long as I can get
to you, so if you have a cause that needs fundraising for call me ASAP!! 
My dates are filling up!

Rae Spoons manager put me in touch with a North Vancouver company
(www.spindigitalmedia.com).  They will produce 500 fully done up and
printed Cd's for less than $1000, or I could get 100 made for $400. 
Currently there is a sum of money ready to go to this as well.  Any
donations or help for this trip to Ontario are really appreciated now, I
am trying to have vision and make things happen and that is only possibly
with peoples support.  Also if your organization wishes to make a
sponsorship we would give them credit on the back of the CD, and give you
free copies depending on your sponsorship level.  I am scared to accept
loans but we could talk.

Please help.  Turning my trip to my trial into a chance to tour and
distribute my work to larger audiences.  For me making music is political
work and it is something I really believe in doing because I have seen how
it affects a lot of people.  Thanks for reading this far!
