Subject: Call Today: Stop NYU's Attack on Grad Employees

                  Dear Paul,

For three years, more than 1,000 New York University (NYU) teaching and research assistants have been represented by United Auto Workers Local 2110 and negotiated important pay and health benefit improvements. But now that their contract is expiring, NYU administrators refuse to even talk to the union about a new contract. NYU is not only walking away from the bargaining table, it is refusing to recognize the union-essentially ignoring the will of the majority.

This is an outrageous act of plain, old-fashioned union busting by NYU.

Please take a minute right now to call NYU's top administrators. Tell them:

NYU's graduate employees fought hard for their union and have worked cooperatively for more than three years with the university to improve workplace conditions.

It is simply unacceptable for NYU to turn back the clock on these workers and the benefits of a union contract. I urge you to do the right thing-come to the bargaining table and bargain in good faith for a new union contract for NYU's graduate employees.

                  Call:
                  President John Sexton: 212-998-2345
Executive Vice President Jack Lew: 212-998-4090
Vice President for Operations and Administration Cheryl Mills: 212-998-4095
                  Provost David McLaughlin: 212-998-2415

NYU's administrators need to know how working families feel about their actions. Please forward this e-mail to other people who care about justice for working people and urge them to call NYU's top administrators, too.

Thank you for all you do to resotre workers' freedom to form unions and bargain collectively.

                  Together we will win!

                  In Solidarity,

                  Andy Levin
