COPE AGM THIS SATURDAY KEY TO OUR CITY’S FUTURE
-Our apologies for any duplicates-
Get a COPE membership and support Tim Louis and others in their efforts to
put the brakes on the plans of the speculators who are profiting from the
Olympics. The Olympics are already an undertaking that will leave the city
with enormous cost overruns.
Tim and our progressive voices in the COPE executive also need us to support
their stance against the expansion of gambling in the City of Vancouver.
COPE was elected as the progressive, inclusive voice of ordinary
Vancouverites. We must attend the AGM and make sure that those elected to
the new COPE executive understand this.
Supporting the election of progressive people to the new COPE executive is
particularly important as there has been an attempt to remove Tim Louis,
Fred Bass, Anne Roberts from the COPE Caucus which narrowly failed in a 10
to 9 vote at the COPE executive.
The COPE caucus is the elected COPE people at City Council.
Tim, Fred, and Anne were to be removed from the COPE caucus because they
voted against the Translink three-year plan which includes a public-private
partnership, the RAV line.
COPE’s Annual General Meeting takes place this Saturday, April 3rd, at 1 pm
at the main branch of the Vancouver Public Library, lower level, Alice
Mckay Room.
It has been an anti-stacking tradition in COPE that only those who become
members of COPE before the last executive meeting prior to the AGM can vote
at the AGM. This time the executive will hold its last meeting on the day
before the AGM, so people can join quite late and still be able to vote at
the AGM.
The COPE membership is $10.
Get your COPE membership at one of the following addresses tomorrow
