    MayWorks call for artists
The MayWorks Festival of Working Class Culture is returning for 2004!
This festival is an opportunity for the labour movement,
    activists,
    and
artists to celebrate working class culture.
Because cultural productions such as painting, theatre, music,
photography, poster art, spoken word, sculpture, and clowning,
    are
    vital
to our understanding of who we are and how we interpret the
    world
    around
us, the MayWorks festival wants to show case artists, musicians and
writers who help us celebrate the strength and diversity of
    the
    working
    class.
As part of this years MayWorks, there will be space at Dogwood
    Centre
    to
install art for the May Day weekend, a workers cabaret, a May
    Day
    central
stage at Grandview Park, and an International Solidarity Café.
Send us submissions and help us build a festival with art
    that
    represents,
encourages or documents workers lives, struggles and gains.
The deadline for submissions for art that will be installed for
    May
    1st
and May 2nd at the Dogwood Centre is April 15th.
The deadline for all other acts, that want to be in the
    festival
    guide, is
April 1st. You can contact the MayWorks collective by
    e-mailing
    MayWorks
at resist.ca or by calling 604-255-2765.

"perfection is not creative, conformity isn't either. nor is routine.
creativity asks us, in fact to change the way we live our life, to turn
away from the 'normal' way of doing things and instead express our
individuality", SO "if you're looking at the opposite of creativity, it
is probably control. if you want to be more creative you have to take
more risks. i think that's what inhibits most people"

reach, well beyond your present grasp to achieve social justice
changes..it's imperative, [eh]
