Subject: Urgent!!! Protest at the Mexican Consulate (Guadalajara Repression)

URGENT!!!!
Global Day of Mobilizations for the Release of the Guadalajara Detainees
On May 28, 2004, thousands of protestors against the 3rd Summit of the
European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean (ALCUE) faced the extreme
represion and abuse perpetrated by the state, municipal, judicial, and
federal police forces in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.
The "security" forces brutalized, kidnapped and disappeared hundreds of
protestors.  More than fifty detainees were subjected to electroshocks;
sleep deprivation, starvation, suffocation, beatings, psychological torture,
and other tortures and degrading treatment, prohibited by the 1983 UN
Convention against Torture (CAT), which has been ratified by the Government
of Mexico.
The result of this brutal act of state repression against peaceful citizens
trying to exercise their legitimate democratic right to protest constitutes
a flagrant violation to national and international law, and your government
must be held accountable for it and for other human rights violations
resulting from the current imprisonment of forty-four Guadalajara detainees.
Join us tomorrow Friday June 4th, at 11:30am outside Burrard Skytrain
Station, to protest at the Mexican Consulate for the repression and to
demand the freedom of the political prisoners.

Simultaneous pickets, protests, and demonstrations will be held tomorrow,
around the world in the different consulates and offices of the Mexican
government (dictatorship).
When: Friday June 4, 2004
Time: 11:30am
Where: Outside of Burrard Skytrain Station (by ticket vending machines)
