Dr. Pipe will give a dynamic and illustrated presentation addressing issues of air pollution, land use, transportation and urban planning, He will link these concerns to trends in automobile travel, walking, cycling, health care costs, physical activity and the quality of life in Canadian cities.

Dr. Andrew Pipe is one of Canada's leading health experts. He is currently the Director of the Prevention and Rehabilitation Centre at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.
Dr. Pipe has been deeply involved in encouraging physical activity at all levels. He currently chairs the Physical Activity and Health Committee of the College of Family Physicians of Canada. He has served on the Ministerial Advisory Committee on Health Promotion for Ontario's Ministry of Health, and as a member of the Premier's Council on Health.
A physician at five Olympic Games, Dr. Pipe served as the Chief Medical Officer to Canada's l992 Olympic Team in Barcelona. He has been the team physician for Canada's National Men's Basketball Team for 25 years.
Dr. Pipe is founding Chair of the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport, and has also served with Physicians for a Smoke Free Canada. Dr. Pipe was made a Member of the Order of Canada in 2002.
