American soldier held in attack on U.S. camp

KUWAIT CITY - The U.S. army has confirmed that an American soldier is being
detained as a suspect in a grenade attack on a U.S. camp in Kuwait.

Army officials say 13 American soldiers were wounded in the grenade and
small arms attack early Sunday at Camp Pennsylvania, near Kuwait's border
with Iraq.

Grenades were thrown into the command tent of the U.S. 101st Airborne
Division, followed by small arms fire.

Reports say all the victims had fragmentation wounds and two of them were
shot.

Six soldiers were seriously wounded.

The attack comes less than a day after four soldiers were killed in combat
in central Iraq.

A British TV journalist travelling with U.S. forces said the four
reconnaissance scouts were ambushed while driving Humvee jeeps ahead of
advancing American forces.

Several source said Iraqis fired shoulder-launched missiles or grenades,
which blew up in the vehicles, killing the soldiers.
