Dear IOC members:
We recently sent you a letter in which we warned that the 2010 Games, if
they come to Vancouver, will be the most scandal-ridden games in Olympics
history. Today you have seen that we have the information to expose each
and every conflict of interest that the IOC would rather ignore. The
Games
have not even been awarded and yet you already have your first scandal. If
you bring the Games to Vancouver, we will give you 7 years of the same.
Today Mr. Heiberg has learned that we don't bluff.
Perhaps Mr Heiberg should also be required to answer the following:
Does Gerhard Heiberg have more to tell the IOC Ethics Committee?
Gerhard Heiberg, Chairman of The IOC Evaluation Committee, has now
confirmed
(but downplayed) his role as Nomination Committee Member of Aker Kvaerner.
The controversy surrounds Aker Kvaerners $400 million contract with Li
Ka-shings Husky Energy of Canada and whether or not Heibergs 2010 Host
City evaluations are compromised as a result of his corporate activities.
Heiberg denied any wrongdoing.
"They are saying that one way or the other I have a connection with a
Norwegian company involved in British Columbia," he said in an interview.
"My connection is almost zero. I make almost no money."
Heiberg said he serves in an unpaid role on the company's election
committee, which meets once a year.
"This company does more business in Korea than in British Columbia, and
also
does business in Austria," he said.
Perhaps Mr. Heiberg can now explain his role as Director of Petroleum
Geo-Services ASA (PGS). Is this yet another unpaid, meet-once-year
position?
The reason we ask is this:
PGS Exploration, a subsidiary of Petroleum Geo-Services ASA, was also
awarded with a Husky Energy contract.
From: a Government of Newfoundland & Labrador news release:
As well Mr. Speaker, Husky Oil - acting on behalf of a ten-company
partnership that includes Husky, Petro-Canada, Chevron, Gulf, Murphy,
Mobil,
Talisman, Parex, Norsk-Hydro and Mosbacher - selected PGS Exploration, a
subsidiary of Petroleum Geo-Services ASA, to conduct a major 3D marine
seismic survey on the Grand Banks, commencing in May 1997. This program
will
cover an area of approximately 1100 square kilometres and is the largest
seismic survey of its kind, ever conducted offshore Canada.
Li Ka-shings corporate empire is exceedingly represented on the
Vancouver/Whistler 2010 Bid Corporation.
Husky Energy board member, Stanley Tun-li Kwok, is also a 2010 Bid Corp.
member.
His wife Eva Lee Kwok is also a Husky board member.
IOC Director and 2010 Bid Corp. member, Richard Pound is a partner with
Stikeman Elliott law firm.
Wayne Shaw, Stikeman Elliott, is a Husky board member.
Frank Sixt, former Senior partner of Stikeman Elliott, is also on the
Husky
board.
HSBC, of which Li Ka-shing is a principal, is represented on the 2010 Bid
Corp. by Milton Wong, President of HSBC Asset and;
Eric Major, Vice President, HSBC.
Martin Glynn, CEO of HSBC, is a Husky Energy board member.
David MacLean, 2010 Bid Corp. member, is the Chairman of Li Ka-shings
Concord Pacific Group.
Stanley Kwok is the former Deputy Chair of Lis Concord Pacific.
Terry Hui, Ceo & President of Concord Pacific and partner of Li Ka-shing
is
a board member of Husky Energy.
The next critical question to ask is the relationship of Husky Energy &
Aker
Kvaerner to the coincidental actions of recent from the BC Liberal
government to lift the offshore exploration moratorium put in place in
1998.
The current multi-billion offshore drilling project of Husky Energy, for
which Aker Kvaerner and Petroleum Geo-Services ASA received contracts, is
the east coast Whiterose project. Is the west coast next?
We look forward to Mr. Heibergs responses to these inquiries, as we have
a
few more questions to ask of him.
